DESIGNS for a towering residential skyscraper at the heart of Castle Hill have been revealed by an architecture firm, featuring a whopping 46 storeys.

The high-rise tower, proposed for 6-8 Old Castle hill Rd, Castle Hill would tower over the Castle Hill Metro station, replacing a commercial precinct neighbouring Castle Towers shopping centre.

A development application or planning proposal is yet to be submitted for the site, with the Bureau of Urban Architecture revealing the concept design stage for an undisclosed client.

“Castle Hill has been evolving as an extremely desirable suburban place to live over the past 30 years,” the design statement for the concept said.

“The success and expansion of the QIC owned Castle Hill Shopping Centre, which will be the third largest shopping centre in the country when the latest stage of building works is completed, is a testament to the desirability of the place.”

The proposal, which comes just a week after a planning proposal for iconic twin towers at Cecil Ave were given the green light by the Hills Shire Council, also suggested the proximity to the Metro station meant the local was “convenient and well serviced”.

“Our view is that Castle Hill will become as significant to the regional growth of Sydney as Chatswood and will continue to expand as it attracts a diverse range of people and business,” the design firm said.

“It is in this context that we have been asked to design a residential tower for a significant site in Castle Hill immediately next to the new railway station and town centre park area.”

The concept design said the building would be a tall, slender tower with a small footprint “to allow the park and civic areas around the station to be expanded”.

“We have conceived the building as symbol for Castle Hill’s new prosperity, liveability and aspiration to be significant place within the network of the Greater Metropolitan Area,” the proposal said.
