A western Sydney businessman that allegedly carjacked an elderly couple at knifepoint — before trying to do the same to police — will remain behind bars after his lawyer didn’t apply for his bail today.

Abdul Kaddour, 31, of Parramatta is accused of stealing a car at a Kellyville Ridge petrol station before carjacking a 78-year-old man and his wife at the intersection of Nelson and Hynds roads, Nelson on October 4.

Kaddour, who didn’t appear before the court on Thursday during proceedings, is accused of then driving the elderly couple’s Toyota Yaris a further 7km to Annangrove Rd, Annangrove where police allege he attempted to break into a cop car before her was arrested.

This is the second time Kaddour’s case has appeared in Windsor Court since his arrest, but the first time he has been represented by his lawyer.

On October 12, Kaddour told the court he blamed family and friends for not taking him to hospital after claiming he was suffering from a psychotic break — pleading with local court magistrate Fiona Toose to “let me out on strict bail conditions” as he had just started his own business and clients were relying on him.

Kaddour’s lawyer told the Hills Shire Times a release application won’t be submitted “for at least” a month after she sought a four week adjournment of the case.

Police officers who arrested Mr Kaddour on Annangrove Rd, Annangrove allegedly found a spring-loaded flick knife and 1 gram of cannabis on his possession.

Kaddour will return to Windsor Court on December 5.
