A man has been charged allegedly using fake cheques to acquire six cars from owners in Sydney’s west – including a luxury Bentley Continental which can be valued up to $439,000 when bought brand new.

Police will allege Ali Yousif, 30, was part of a criminal organisation who used fake money to buy luxury cars advertised online and deceive the owners that payment was made.

Mr Yousif, whose address is listed in Glenroy, Victoria, had his matter listed at Parramatta Local Court on May 11.

Yousif is alleged to have deceived six victims using fake “cheques” to acquire a Mercedes C250, Ford Ranger, Bentley Continental GTC, Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Land Rover.

The alleged victims resided in Prestons, Wentworthville, Ashcroft, Glenmore Park, Lansvale and Castle Hill.

Yousif has not entered pleas for six counts of dishonestly obtaining property by deception and one count of participating in a criminal group (contributing to criminal activity).

Police will allege Yousif provided “valueless cheques” as payment between the alleged crimes on September last year and February this year.

Police will allege the luxury cars were then sold by Yousif.

Hills Police Area Command arrested Yousif at a Castle Hill address on May 3 and the man has been refused bail since.

Yousif will next face Parramatta Local Court on May 18 for police mention, while Hills Police said investigations are ongoing.
