An inspiring performing arts showcase will be held at Baulkham Hills tomorrow night.
Murmuration, a Marrickville-based inclusive performance company for all abilities, has held workshops in Baulkham Hills this week.
The company’s artistic director, Sarah-Vyne Vassallo, grew up in Baulkham Hills and wanted to hold a program locally since moving back to the area.
“Since moving to western Sydney we talked about the opportunities that are out here,” she said.
“ ... There’s not really a lot of that happening out in western Sydney yet, so we thought why not seize the opportunity.”
Murmuration has run the workshops in partnership with a group from The Young Americans performing arts company, who have been in Australia on tour.
It has been a mutual sharing of skills, with Ms Vassallo and Mumuration’s associate director Dan Daw running professional development classes in contemporary and inclusive practise for The Young Americans, and The Young Americans running performing arts classes for Mumuration members.
“Everyone’s having a ball,” Ms Vassallo said.
The workshops have included 10 Mumuration members aged 18-30, as well as 30 members from The Young Americans.
The week’s work will culminate in a public showcase on Friday night at Thompsons Hall, Balcombe Heights Estate.
Doors open at 7pm and the show will run from 7.30pm-9pm.
