Woman stabbed in domestic incident in southwest Sydney

A woman is in a serious condition after she was stabbed multiple times in a domestic incident in southwest Sydney.

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was stabbed multiple times in a domestic incident in Fairfield yesterday.

Emergency services were called to an address on Polding St in Fairfield around 2pm on August 10 after a report that a woman had been stabbed.

The 53-year-old woman suffered a number of stab wounds and a 60-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

The woman was responsive at the scene and taken to Liverpool Hospital with a police escort, where she remains in a serious condition.

The man was taken to Fairfield police station, where he assisted with inquiries.

The man has also been charged with intentionally wounding to cause grievous bodily harm.

The 000 call was made by her woman’s 23-year-old son, who sheltered with her in a locked room of the house prior to police attending the scene.

Fairfield police believe the stabbing is related to a domestic incident.
