Villawood hit and run leaves woman fighting for life

A YOUNG woman was left for dead in the street after she was struck by a truck in southwest Sydney overnight.
Police believe the 20-year-old woman was crossing Woodville Rd in Villawood on a green pedestrian light around 9.35pm when she was struck by a northbound vehicle described as a small black truck with a cage on the back.
The truck driver left the scene without stopping for the injured woman.
The woman suffered serious head and leg injuries and remains in a critical condition at Liverpool Hospital.
Fairfield police and the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit closed Woodville Rd at the intersection with Tangerine St while they examined the crash scene.
Police are urging witnesses or anyone with information about the vehicle involved to contact them immediately.
