Man charged after $4.2m worth of illegal cigarettes seized in Wetherill Park

A stash of illegal sexual enhancement drugs used to treat erectile dysfunction and 90kgs of loose rolling tobacco worth more than $4.2m were seized following a search inside a southwest Sydney storage unit.

A stash of illegal sexual enhancement drugs used to treat erectile dysfunction and 90kgs of loose rolling tobacco worth more than $4.2m were seized following a search inside a southwest Sydney storage unit.

Police attended a storage facility on Cowpasture Pl, Wetherill Park on Tuesday when they noticed several boxes of cigarettes inside a van while talking to a 33-year-old man.

During a search of the vehicle and the man’s storage unit, officers allegedly located and seized a number of boxes allegedly containing 323 packets of vital honey – a sexual enhancement product that is banned in the USA used to treat erectile dysfunction.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the vital honey products contain the FDA-approved prescription drug called cialis, which is prescribed under the supervision of a healthcare professional.

The FDA states if the ingredient is undeclared, it could interact negatively with other prescription drugs and lower blood pressure to “dangerous levels”.

A NSW Police spokesperson said police believe the product was the sexual enhancement drug but the packets would undergo further analysis.

Police will also allege in court they seized 137,880 cigarette cartons, 90kgs of loose rolling tobacco alongside the sexual enhancement drugs with an estimated street value is approximately of $4.2 million.

The man was taken to Fairfield Police Station where he was charged with one count of knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.

He was bail refused to appear before Fairfield Local Court today.
