A young man who was charged after the vicious stabbing of an innocent 62-year-old father in an alleged gang-related attack gone wrong has been granted bail.

Kundai Harrison was granted bail after facing Parramatta Local Court from custody on Thursday.

The 23-year-old and a co-accused 15-year-old boy were charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and assault intending to participate in criminal group activity.

Police state a 62-year-old man was stabbed outside a Guildford home on Tuesday about 8am.

Officers allege the pair were involved in a targeted gang-related attack when they arrived at the Eve St home searching for Emilio Chalhoub, who is the reported bodyguard of alleged Alameddine crime network associate and rapper Ali Younes – or Ay Huncho.

But it’s alleged they mistakenly turned on Emilio’s father, Bassam Chalhoub, stabbing him in the leg after wrongly believing he was his son.

Mr Chalhoub was treated for multiple injuries and remains at a hospital in a stable condition.

Taskforce Falcon commander Jason Box previously said the knifing could have been fatal.

“There’s every possibility the intent was to cause serious harm to this person,’’ he said.

“But it was fortunate this person wasn’t killed and he could have been killed.’’

At his court appearance, Harrison’s lawyer Chris Wozniak lodged a release application and argued the Crown’s case contained “weak aspects” and his client had no knowledge of participating in a criminal group activity.

Mr Wozniak said Harrison was not working, had no issues with drugs and could live with his mother at a South Wentworth address.

Magistrate Susan McGowan said it was not a weak Crown case but acknowledged there was some confusion.

“Everybody doesn’t know who did what to whom,” she said.

Ms McGowan granted Harrison strict bail conditions which included a 6pm to 7am curfew and not contact the co-accused, victim or prosecution witness.

He must also not enter Guildford, only have one phone and not consume any drugs or alcohol.

“I will go to community corrections 100 percent, thank you,” Harrison said.

The case has been adjourned to August 22.

The 15-year-old boy fronted the Children’s Court on Wednesday.
