Robert Wood, ‘GymeaDaddy’: Man arrested on child sex charges
A 60-year-old man known online as ‘GymeaDaddy’ allegedly sent naked photos of himself to a ‘teen boy’.

A 60-year-old man has been arrested by police after allegedly arranging to have sex with a child at a hotel in Sydney’s west.
Robert George Wood was arrested by detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crime Squad’s Child Exploitation Internet Unit on Wednesday following an extensive operation that involved police assuming the fictional online identity of a 14-year-old boy.
Police will allege in court Wood believed he was speaking with a 14-year-old boy, engaging in sexually explicit conversations about acts he wished to perform on the child and sending sexually explicit naked images of himself, as well as images of a sex toy, before allegedly making arrangements to meet the child for sex at Rydges Parramatta.
Arresting Wood in Westmead, a search warrant executed at a home in Gymea a short time later resulted in police seizing a laptop and electronic storage devices.
Wood was taken to Granville Police Station where he was charged with one count of using a carriage service to procure a child under 16 years for sexual activity and one count of using a carriage service to transmit indecent material to a person under 16.
Refused bail to appear in Fairfield Local Court on Thursday, prosecutors told the court Wood had adopted the moniker ‘GymeaDaddy’ to engage in conversations online.
The court also heard of a Locanto classifieds ad allegedly belonging to Wood.
A representative for Wood applied for bail, which was opposed and formally refused.
The matter will next be heard at Sutherland Court House on Thursday, January 14, 2021.
If found guilty, Wood faces a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison.
