Cabramatta newsagency sells winning ticket 11 days after reopening
One Cabramatta resident rang in the new year with an extra $1 million in their bank after becoming a Lotto division one winner in the Boxing Day draw.
One lucky person from Cabramatta rang in the new year with an extra $1 million in their bank after becoming a Lotto division one winner in the Boxing Day draw.
The new millionaire is a registered player and asked to remain anonymous while they enjoyed their new-found fortune.
NSW Lotteries revealed the winner bought the Pick 5 marked entry from Mitchum News.
Mitchum News recently relocated and reopened at a new location in Shop 27, Dutton Plaza in Cabramatta, and within 11 days of opening it sold the winning ticket.
Owner Anne Huang said she believed luck had followed them there.
“We relocated our shop in mid-December and just 11 days later after reopening in Dutton Plaza, we’ve made a new millionaire,” Ms Huang said.
“It looks like our luck has followed us here.”
She said the million dollars would make a lovely Christmas bonus for the winner, and a great way to start the new year as a new millionaire.
“We’re no strangers to making millionaires,” Ms Huang said.
“In June 2014 we set up a 25-share syndicate between our two stores that scooped the entire $25 million jackpot prize in Powerball.
“But it is great to have a brand new winning customer.
“It was a lovely surprise for us because we have been so busy selling Megadraw tickets.
“We took a while to see the message to tell us that we sold a division one winning ticket again.”
