Bossley Park: Teenager charged with speeding, police pursuit after crashing into friend’s car

A teenager allegedly involved in a midnight police pursuit – which ended when his car collided with his friend’s parked car – has been charged with reaching speeds of 140km/h in a 70km/h zone.

A teenager allegedly involved in a midnight police pursuit has been charged with going double the speed limit before failing to negotiate a bend and crashing into his friend’s parked car.

Police officers attached to Liverpool City Highway Patrol were alerted to a Volkswagen Golf allegedly reaching speeds of 140km/h in a 70km/h zone on Cowpasture Rd, Bossley Park about 12:40am on Sunday.

The car was seen turned right into Prairie Vale Rd where it allegedly ran a red light, before allegedly hitting speeds of 130km/h in a 60km/h zone while travelling on the incorrect side of the road.

A pursuit was launched before the 17-year-old driver turned left onto Glen Logan Rd and into Tuncurry St.

The teenager allegedly failed to turn a bend at excessive speed and crashed into his friend’s Hyundai i30, which was stationary at the time.

The driver was apprehended by police and was taken to Fairfield police station and was charged with police pursuit, not stopping, driving dangerously and not stopping before a red arrow.

They were also charged with P1 driver exceeding a speed less than 45km/h and negligent driving.

The teenager will appear at Fairfield Local Court at a later date.
