An off-duty NSW Police special constable allegedly detected hitting dangerous speeds during a midnight motorcycle ride on a major motorway has appeared in court.

Constable Clayton Pestana, 22, of Casula, and Riyaad Hussain, 19, of West Hoxton, were spotted travelling on the M5 Motorway on their motorcycles about 12.10am on February 26.

After being monitored by Polair, the pair were stopped at the intersection of the Hume Hwy and Hoxton Park Rd by officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command.

The officers were conducting patrols as part of Operation Furious, targeting speeding and dangerous driving.

The men were each charged with dangerous driving and speeding 45km/h over the speed limit. Hussain was also charged with driving when visiting privileges withdrawn.

The men appeared at Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday in which Pestana pleaded not guilty to both charges. He will defend the charges at a hearing in December. His employment status is under review.

Hussain did not enter any pleas with the matter adjourned for Tuesday. Court documents state the teenager allegedly drove his Honda motorcycle 161 km/h in a signposted 60 km/h area on Copeland St, Liverpool.
