Alex Sirone: Bonnyrigg Plaza masturbator pleads guilty to wilful and obscene exposure

A man who masturbated in the car park of a southwest Sydney shopping plaza has been named in court — but it’s not his first foul flash.

A 60-year old man who masturbated in a southwest Sydney shopping plaza car park before being caught out by a dash camera has pleaded guilty to his crime — but it’s far from his first offence.

Horsley Park man Alex Sirone exposed himself in the middle of the day at the Bonnyrigg Plaza carpark on Sunday, October 9, masturbating on and off between 11:10am and 11:40am, with multiple people and families walking past him, agreed facts tendered to the court reveal.

Loitering next to his victim’s car, Sirone looked suspicious enough that when the victim returned after shopping for half an hour, they decided to check their dashcam footage.

Sirone was “clearly captured” on the camera, the agreed facts note, and a photo was quickly released to the public by Fairfield police.

Appearing in Fairfield Local Court today, Sirone pleaded guilty to one charge of wilful and obscene exposure in/near public place/school, the fourth time he has committed the offence.

Sirone would have been a 24-year old man when he first exposed himself in May 1988 and was convicted of the crime in Ryde Local Court.

Ten years later, in December 1998, he was again convicted of wilful and obscene exposure, this time in Parramatta Local Court.

Just three years later, in March 2001, the court convicted Sirone of wilful and obscene exposure again, in Fairfield.

His most recent sexual offence prior to the Bonnyrigg Plaza masturbation was committing an act of indecency with a person 16 years or older, of which he was convicted on December 2016, also in Fairfield.

Sirone will return to the same court on December 5 for sentence.
