Woman seriously injured in Walgett motorcycle crash
Neither the rider nor passenger on a motorcycle which hit a pedestrian footbridge in the state’s west were wearing helmets. The crash has left a young woman with serious injuries.

An unlicensed motorbike rider faces a raft of charges after a crash in western NSW left a woman with serious injuries.
Emergency services were called to Duff St, Walgett, about 12.20am on Boxing Day after reports a motorcycle had hit a pedestrian bridge.
Officers from Central North Police District were told the 22-year-old male rider and his 21-year-old female pillion passenger had gone to Walgett Hospital.
The woman required surgery and was transferred to Tamworth Hospital while the man was taken to Dubbo Hospital for further treatment.
Police allege neither had been wearing a helmet.
A crime scene was established in Duff St, and the Crash Investigation Unit is working to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Following inquiries, the 22-year-old man was arrested at a home in Fox St, Walgett, on January 2.
He was charged with drive manner dangerous occasioning grievous bodily harm, unlicensed rider for class of vehicle, and rider without helmet ride with one passenger without helmet.
He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Walgett Local Court on February 21.
NSW Police said the man held a driver’s licence but not a motorcycle licence.
