A man, believed to be in his 30s, has died after a ute collided with a tree near Orange.

The road toll for the holiday season has tragically increased after a man died following a single-vehicle crash in the state’s central west.

About 1am on Wednesday, emergency services were called to Cargo Rd, near Woods Ln, Nashdale – about 5km from Orange – following reports of a crash.

On arrival, a Ford ute was found to have collided with a tree.

The male driver – and sole occupant of the car – died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged 33.

Officers attached to Central West Police District established a crime scene and have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.

More than 15 people have died on Australian roads in the past week, with many of those in NSW and Victoria.
