A truck driver is dead and another is fighting for life after a horror B-double smash in the state’s south.
Emergency services were called to the scene on the Hume Hwy, near Pedell Lane, at Oolong around 1.15am on Thursday following reports of a crash.
Oolong is about 35km east of Yass.
When police arrived they found a B-double truck had left the road and rolled, before a second B-double truck smashed into the back of it.
One of the drivers died at the scene while the other driver, a man in his 20s, is fighting for life.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman said the man was trapped inside his vehicle, but was freed at around 8.15am.
He was then flown to Canberra Hospital in a critical condition.
He said three ambulance units, plus a helicopter were called to the scene.
All southbound traffic is being diverted to the Barton and Federal Highways.
A crime scene has been established and police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
