Wilcannia: NSW Police Force civilian charged with common assault

A civilian employee attached to western region police has been charged with a domestic violence-related offence. Here’s the latest.

A civilian NSW Police Force employee has been charged with a domestic violence-related offence following an alleged assault in the state’s western region.

Barrier Police District officers were told a 19-year-old woman had been allegedly assaulted at a home in Wilcannia about 4.10pm on Saturday.

Following inquiries, a 53-year-old man was arrested and charged with common assault in relation to domestic violence.

The man – attached to the region’s police district – was granted conditional bail to appear before Wilcannia Local Court on July 17.
