The sentencing of Lightning Ridge drug dealer who lied to a court has been deferred while he undergoes treatment at a rehabilitation facility.

Police launched an investigation into the activities of Tim Donald Molyneux in 2018 and his phone was tapped in July last year.

Between July and November, the phone taps revealed Molyneux supplied 11.6 grams of methylamphetamine on 23 occasions to various people.

The phone taps also led to Molyneux being charged with another crime.

In August last year when he appeared in court, accused of punching a woman’s windscreen, Molyneux denied any wrongdoing and was found not guilty.

The night after he appeared in court, Molyneux took a phone call from a woman and said he “told a few porky pies and was found not guilty”.

In November last year, when police were still tapping Molyneux’s phone, he told a woman he “won in court but … did smash her windscreen”.

Molyneux pleaded guilty to supplying methylamphetamine and making a false statement on oath, knowing the statement was false.

Defence Lawyer William Bruffey told Dubbo District Court judge Nanette Williams that Molyneux was booked in to undergo treatment at the Calvary Drug and Alcohol Centre.

Judge Williams adjourned the case to November 18 and deferred sentencing until an outcome of Molyneux’s stint in rehab could be known.
