Three mischievous lion cubs have joined their family at Taronga Western Plains Zoo.
The five-month-old cubs Bahati, Jabari and Zawadi have been introduced to the Lion Pride Lands exhibit in Dubbo and can finally interact with their three siblings and parents Lwazi and Marion.
Keeper Megan Lewis told The Daily Telegraph Zawadi, who is the only female in the litter, was a “terror” and is the most mischievous one of the three.
“She was rumbling with one of her brothers and he was getting sick of playing. She’s just relentless,” she said.
“I would say she’s the mischief maker, she certainly gives her brothers a run for their money.”
She said the cubs’ older sisters Amali, Imani and Mara were 18 months older and had already grown a special bond. However she said the cubs were already bonding well with their parents and older sisters.
“We run the Lion Pride Lands Tour in the large exhibit, so people now have the option of seeing the cubs with the rest of their family members,” she said.
Ms Lewis said the zoo had been grateful for another litter as the species were endangered in Africa.
The Taronga Western Plains Pride Lands Patrol Tour commences on Wednesday for a chance to see the lions up close.
