A woman has vowed to fight 16 of the 17 fraud charges laid against her by police after she allegedly stole $104,000 from a 71-year-old Cessnock man while acting as his trustee.

Raynor Ann Jones, 59, pleaded guilty to one count of dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception and not guilty to another 16 similar counts in court on Wednesday.

Jones was arrested by police in Dubbo, about 56km southwest of her home town of Tomingley, on September 28.

Police allege she conducted a series of fraudulent bank transfers between October 2019 and June 2020, in order to unlawfully obtain more than $104,000 while acting as the man’s trustee.

In court documents police allege the money Jones obtained was used to make purchases at various retail outlets and repay portions of home loans.

She is also further alleged to have used the money to pay a real estate agent, the NRMA, Telstra and a plumber.

After her pleas were entered, the court heard Jones wanted to vary her bail conditions.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Amy Jenner said the application to vary the bail would be opposed because Jones was seeking to contact the alleged victim.

Magistrate Gary Wilson ordered police to prepare a brief of evidence and the case was adjourned to February.
