The boy was charged on Sunday after allegedly entering a home on Oxley St, Bourke, around 4.10pm on Saturday moments before the owner came home.

When the owner returned, he found the front door open and allegedly saw the boy run out of the back door and jump the rear fence.

He was refused bail and appeared before a Children’s Court on Sunday via AVL, where he was given conditional bail to appear at another court on Monday.

It comes as another teenager, aged 16, was arrested in Dubbo after a Toyota Kluger was stolen twice last week and used in an alleged spree of wild break ins.

Two 17-year-old boys and a 13-year-old girl have also been charged over the alleged incidents and remain before the courts, with police indicating that further charges are expected.

The 16-year-old boy is the latest arrest since police received reports a Kluger was stolen from a home on Lago Circuit, Dubbo, between May 22 and 23.

The Kluger was later located on Alcheringa St and seized for forensic examination on May 23.

The same vehicle was stolen from a holding yard on May 25 and police alleged it was involved in seven break-ins, two pursuits and rammed a fence between May 25 and May 27.

The seven break-ins occurred at businesses on Erskine, Macquarie and Bourke streets, Commercial Ave, Hopkins Pde, Yarrandale and Minore roads, and Douglas Mawson Drive.

The Kluger was again located abandoned on Alcheringa St, Dubbo, around 2.30am on Monday, May 27.

On Tuesday, at 12.50am, three people forced entry into a business on Whylandra St, and allegedly attempted to steal cigarettes before fleeing on foot.

A short time later, the group was outside a home on Bunglegumbie Rd, Dubbo, when the occupant — a 26-year-old man — approached the group.

A member of the group threatened the man with a knife before he retreated inside.

Police allege the group forced entry into the home and stole the man’s car keys and a Mercedes C250.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle on Whylandra St, around 1.30am, and when it allegedly failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated before being terminated due to safety concerns.

The vehicle was located abandoned on Alfred St, where it was seized for forensic examination.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 16-year-old boy walking on a street in Dubbo around 7.50pm on Sunday.

He was taken to Dubbo Police Station and charged with stealing a motor vehicle and breach of bail.

The boy was refused bail to appear at a children’s court on Monday, where he was formally refused bail to reappear at the same court on July 1.
