A 35-year-old man has been charged with multiple offences following a police pursuit in the state’s west.
Chifley Police District Highway Patrol officers were patrolling the Blayney area about 12.50pm on Thursday when they attempted to stop a hatchback on the Mid Western Highway at Kings Plains.
A pursuit was initiated and terminated a short time later due to “safety concerns” when the hatchback allegedly failed to stop.
NSW Police allege the vehicle was observed to reach a speed of 180km/h during the chase.
Police later spotted the hatchback on the same road in Bathurst, and another pursuit was initiated and terminated.
Officers deployed road spikes on the Mitchell Highway in Guyong, which disabled the hatchback.
The man was arrested and taken to Orange Police Station where he was charged with provisional P1 licence holder exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h, driving recklessly, not stopping during a police pursuit, and driving a motor vehicle with illicit drugs present in oral fluid.
His licence has been suspended.
The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Orange Local Court on May 25.
