Two teenagers are behind bars on remand following an investigation into an alleged stolen car chase in the state’s central west.
A group of youths allegedly forced entry into a home on Hallaran Way, Orange, about 1.30am, on Friday and stole keys and a Ford Ranger.
The group returned to the same home an hour later and allegedly stole a Holden Acadia.
Police attempted to stop the Holden – driving in tandem with the Ford Ranger – about 6.10am the same day after sighting it on Bathurst Rd, Orange.
When the vehicle failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated but terminated a short time later.
The Ranger was located in a paddock behind Raines Pl, Orange, about 8.30am, while the Holden was located abandoned in Simpson Pl, Orange, about 5.30pm.
Both vehicles were seized for forensic examination.
Following inquiries, police attended a home on Saturday night and arrested a 17-year-old girl.
Police attended another home in Orange later than night and arrested a 15-year-old boy.
During the arrest he allegedly threatened a senior constable.
The pair were taken to Orange police station.
The girl was charged with aggravated enter a dwelling with intent, two counts of stealing a motor vehicle and driving a vehicle without ever obtaining a licence.
The boy was charged with being carried in a stolen vehicle and intimidating a police officer without actual bodily harm.
The teens appeared at a children’s court on Sunday, where they were both formally refused bail to appear at another children’s court on April 8.
Inquiries are continuing.
