A wanted teenager has been charged in the state’s central west after allegedly failing to pay a taxi fare.
In a statement, NSW Police said a group of youths had been picked up by a taxi on Orchard Grove Rd, Orange, about 5.10am on Tuesday.
The group was dropped at Hartas Lane, Orange, where its members allegedly stole two charging cables and failed to pay for the fare.
Central West Police District officers received a report and commenced an investigation into the incident.
Following inquiries, a 14-year-old boy attended Orange Police Station about 3.30pm on Tuesday, when he was arrested.
Officers executed two outstanding arrest warrants for alleged property-related offences.
The teenager was charged with obtaining financial advantage by deception and breach of bail.
He was refused bail to appear at a children’s court on Wednesday.
Inquiries continue under Operation Regional Mongoose, a high-visibility police operation to tackle serious property-related crime, committed by young offenders.
