Operation Regional Mongoose: Teenage girl charged over multiple pursuits and break-ins in Dubbo

A 13-year-old girl has been granted conditional bail by court after she was allegedly involved in seven break-ins and two pursuits in Dubbo. Here’s what we know.

A 13-year-old girl has been charged following an investigation into multiple break-ins and pursuits in Dubbo.

The arrest was made as part of Operation Regional Mongoose, a high-visibility police operation targeting serious property-related crime committed by young offenders.

Police received reports a Toyota Kluger was stolen from a home on Lago Circuit in Dubbo between 11.50pm on Wednesday and 10.55am on Thursday.

The car was later located on Alcheringa St and seized by police for forensic examination.

Around 12am on Saturday, a holding yard was allegedly broken into and the Toyota Kluger was stolen.

Police allege the vehicle was involved in seven break-ins, two pursuits and rammed a fence between Saturday and Monday.

The seven break-ins occurred at businesses on Erskine, Macquarie and Bourke St, Commercial Ave, Hopkins Pde, Yarrandale and Minore Rd, and Douglas Mawson Dr.

About 2.30am on Monday, the vehicle was located abandoned again on Alcheringa St, Dubbo.

Following inquiries, about 3.50am on Monday, police attended a home in Dubbo and arrested a 13-year-old girl.

She was taken to Dubbo Police Station and charged with being carried in a stolen vehicle and a breach of bail.

The girl was refused bail and appeared at a children’s court on Monday, where she was given conditional bail to reappear at the same court on July 8.

Investigations are being carried out by Orana Mid-Western Police District with further arrests expected.
