An investigation into allegations a senior correctional officer sent explicit images to a female officer and her son has been revived.
NSW Police have revealed they are once again investigating allegations a Macquarie Correctional officer sent a female colleague and her 12-year-old son explicit images in November 2022, after The Telegraph revealed investigators dropped the matter after they found they “could not reach a standard of proof required to bring the matter to court”.
On February 17, a family member of the female officer told the Telegraph NSW Police and Corrective Services had bungled the investigation, revealing the female officer wasn’t given an update for months after reporting it to senior management and police.
On Tuesday, a NSW Police spokeswoman said officers had received a report in relation to an inappropriate image being sent to a group of people including minors via a social media platform in November, 2022.
The spokeswoman said an investigation was launched and interviews were conducted into the allegations, but a formal statement was not obtained at the time.
“The person who allegedly sent the image, declined to be formally interviewed,” the spokeswoman said.
In February 2024, officers reached out to the person who reported the matter for further information and a statement has been obtained.
The Telegraph previously reportedthe senior correctional officer has been relocated to another centre following the release of suspension.
Enquiries into the alleged incident has been revived and is still under investigation.
