An elderly woman has died in hospital after being critically injured in a two-vehicle crash near Lithgow last week.
Emergency services arrived at Round Swamp on Castlereagh Hwy about 2.20pm on April 21, after reports of a crash between a sedan and a hatchback.
The 82-year-old hatchback driver was treated at the scene before being flown to Westmead Hospital in Sydney in a critical condition – a male passenger in the hatchback was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The 28-year-old male sedan driver from Wellington was flown to Royal North Shore Hospital for treatment.
Crash Investigation Unit officers arrested the Wellington man after his release where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasion grievous bodily harm) and not keeping left of the dividing line.
His licence was suspended.
The man was granted bail and is due to appear before Lithgow Local Court on June 1, where additional charges of dangerous driving occasioning death – drive manner dangerous and negligent driving occasioning death will be laid.
