A man dramatically arrested outside a home near Bathurst has been granted bail after police allegedly found prescription drugs and an alleged homemade gun during a search of his home.

Jack Mullins, 29, was charged with possessing a prescribed restricted substance; possessing ammunition without a licence, permit or authority and hindering or resisting arrest, after a dramatic arrest in which he was tasered outside a home on Greville St at Kelso on Tuesday.

Chifley Police, with the help of the Tactical Operations Unit, were at the house about 7.30pm to execute a firearm prohibition order.

Mullins was spoken to, and allegedly resisted arrest before police tasered him.

He was allegedly found with unauthorised prescription medication, and ammunition in his car.

An alleged homemade firearm was also found at the home and seized for forensic examination.

He was taken to Bathurst Base Hospital and later released into police custody.

Mullins faced Bathurst Local Court on Wednesday, where he was granted bail under the conditions of providing a $20,000 surety and that he report to police daily.

He is also to abide by a curfew, not commit any crimes and not drink alcohol or take drugs.

He is next expected to face court on May 28.
