A young Dubbo man drank 10 schooners of Carlton Dry beer before being stopped by police behind the wheel, a court has heard.

Jett Edward Lundholm, 21, appeared in Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday, pleading guilty to high-range drink driving after he was arrested on October 15.

According to an agreed set of facts tendered to court, police were looking for Lundholm’s Toyota HiLux after it was “subject to a driving complaint”.

About 11.50pm the same evening, police located the HiLux parked outside the popular Commercial Hotel at 11.50pm and a short time later, the headlights turned on.

After reversing and attempting to exit the carpark via Browns Ln, police pulled the ute over, finding Lundholm in the driver’s seat with one passenger.

Jett Edward Lundholm was fined $1000 and disqualified for six months for high-range drink driving.

Agreed facts revealed “a strong smell of intoxicating liquor emanated from” Lundholm’s HiLux before he returned a positive reading to a roadside breath test.

He was arrested and taken to Dubbo police station where he recorded a result of 0.171.

According to police Lundholm was “deemed to be moderately affected by intoxicating liquor” and he later told officers he had drank around “10 schooners” of Carlton Dry beer between 12.30pm and 11.30pm.

On Wednesday, Lundholm’s lawyer Rachel Waugh said her client had completed the traffic offender’s program and was seeking the minimum disqualification period.

“Given his lack of any record, driving or otherwise, I am prepared to see to that,” Magistrate Gary Wilson said.

Lundholm was ultimately fined $1000, disqualified from driving for six months, and will be subjected to a two-year interlock licence.

“I hope that’s a good lesson to you Mr Lundholm,” Magistrate Wilson said.
