A teenage girl has been charged following an alleged stabbing which threw a school in the state’s central west into lockdown yesterday.
About 1pm on Monday August 29, emergency services were called to Canobolas Rural Technology High School, on Icely Rd, after reports a student had been stabbed.
Police found a 16-year-old girl with stab wounds to her chest and arm.
She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene and taken to Orange Health Service for treatment of her non life-threatening injuries.
After a police investigation, a 15-year-old girl was arrested at the school and taken to Orange Police Station.
The teenager was charged with reckless wounding and refused bail.
She is due to appear before a children’s court later today.

A NSW school was thrown into lockdown after a 15-year-old girl allegedly stabbed her classmate in the chest and arm in a schoolyard “altercation”.
NSW Ambulance representatives said paramedics responded to the alleged stabbing of a teenager at a school at Icely Road, Orange on Monday afternoon about 1pm, with “multiple road crews and a medical team” called to the scene.
It is understood the incident occurred at Canobolas Rural Technology High School.
A NSW Education source told the Daily Telegraph the school was placed into lockdown, with police remaining at the scene on Monday afternoon.
An Education Department spokeswoman revealed staff were forced to give first aid to the 16-year-old girl after she was allegedly stabbed in the chest and arm.
“Emergency services were called to Canobolas Rural Technology High School today following an alleged altercation between two students,” the spokeswoman said. “The school was placed into lockdown for a short period of time as a safety precaution.
“Wellbeing supports are in place for all staff and students.”
One concerned parent told the Daily Telegraph that the school had not contacted parents following the incident.
“I’m quite upset, they didn’t even say anything, I had to find out from my son and (Facebook),” the woman said.
A NSW Police spokeswoman said officers from Central West Police district arrested a 15-year-old girl following the incident on Monday afternoon.
“Officers attached to Central West Police District attended and found a 16-year-old girl suffering stab wounds to her chest and arm,” the representative said. “She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene and taken to Orange Health Service in a stable condition.
“A 15-year-old girl was arrested at the scene and taken to Orange Police Station where she is assisting police with inquiries.
“A crime scene was established, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway.”
