Gilgandra: 19-year-old man charged after public place shooting

A teenager has faced court over an alleged public place shooting in the Central West after police allegedly seized ammunition and a prohibited gun. Here’s the latest.

A teenager has been remanded in custody after being charged over an alleged public place shooting in the Central West.

Orana Mid-Western Police District officers were called to Wrigley St, Gilgandra, about 68km north of Dubbo, after shots were allegedly fired from a home on Thursday night.

A 19-year-old man was arrested about 11.15pm that night in Station Street while a perimeter was established around the home.

Police searched the home and allegedly seized ammunition and a prohibited firearm.

The man was taken to Gilgandra Police Station where he was charged with firing a firearm at a dwelling with disregard for safety and firing a firearm in a manner likely to injure a person or property.

He was also charged with using an unauthorised firearm, two counts of possessing an unauthorised firearm and breaching bail.

He was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court on February 2, where he was formally refused to reappear on March 28.
