A man has been charged after police allegedly found firearms and ammunition in a home after a vehicle stop reports in the state’s central west.

Police said officers stopped a blue Nissan Navara on Wyndham Ave at Forbes about 11am on Tuesday following reports of a firearm in a car.

Officers spoke with the driver, 22, and a passenger, 25, before a search of the car allegedly located ammunition casings.

Police later searched a home on Calarie Rd, Forbes, where they allegedly found two firearms, ammunition and firearm parts.

Both men were arrested and taken to Forbes police station before the older man was released without charge pending further inquiries.

The 22-year-old was charged with two counts of possessing an unregistered prohibited firearm and possessing ammunition without a permit.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Forbes Local Court on September 17.
