Dylan Fieldsend sentenced for drug supply in Dubbo

Police knew something wasn’t right when this drug dealer took off his pants and “conducted a pirouette” while clenching his glute muscles firmly.

A man caught selling drugs out of an East Dubbo home has been sentenced after a bag and balloon full of drugs fell out from between his buttocks.

Dylan James Fieldsend was on parole in July last year when police went to a home in Davidson Drive and found him carrying a needle and 0.8 grams of methamphetamine in his back pocket.

In court documents police said after a set of scales and foil were also found inside the home, Fieldsend was arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station where a bizarre exchange took place.

“Police observed the accused seated in a very particular and uncomfortable sort of way in the dock, with an insinuation he was trying to go to the toilet and was somewhat constipated,” the court documents noted.

Police said Fieldsend looked like he had “something secreted in or around his anus” and became argumentative when told a strip search was needed.

After Fieldsend took off his pants, police said he “conducted a pirouette” while clenching his glute muscles firmly.

Police asked Fieldsend to unclench but he refused until handcuffs and “reasonable force” was used.

After he unclenched a blue metal tube fell onto the ground, inside it was a 3.8 grams of methamphetamine inside as well as a pink balloon which had 52 buprenorphine strips inside it.

Fieldsend told police he accidentally sat on the metal tube and when providing another excuse, he said the tube was put in between his buttocks as part of a sexual fetish.

According to police the drugs Fieldsend had were worth more than $5000 on the street or $50,000 in jail.

Appearing in Dubbo Local Court via audiovisual link from Bathurst Correctional Centre on Thursday, Fieldsend pleaded guilty to supply and possess prohibited drug charges.

Defence lawyer Andrew Rolfe told the court Fieldsend was supported by family members, including his mother who was at court.

“He accepts there’s a drug problem,” Mr Rolfe said.

“One of his goals is to get some stability while he’s in custody … so he can be accepted into an appropriate program in the corrections system.”

Magistrate Mal MacPherson said because Fieldsend was in custody for other matters the prohibited drug charge would be dismissed.

Fieldsend was convicted of the supply prohibited drug offence and sentenced to a 15-month community corrections order which requires him to abstain from drug use.

“He’s got a history of assaults and domestic violence,” Magistrate MacPherson noted during sentencing.
