Duramana, near Bathurst: Woman charged over serious crash on Duramana Rd

A female driver has been charged after allegedly crashing head-on with another vehicle with children in the car in the state’s central west. Here’s the latest.

A female driver has been charged over a serious crash involving three children in the state’s central west earlier this year.

Emergency services were called to Duramana Rd, Duramana, about 22km north of Bathurst, following reports of a two-vehicle crash, just after 2.50pm on February 24.

Chifley Police District officers found a white Mazda SUV and a white Nissan ute had crashed head-on.

The driver of the SUV – a 28-year-old woman at the time – was treated by paramedics before being flown to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.

Her passengers – an 11-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy – were taken to The Children’d Hospital at Westmead for further treatment.

The 40-year-old male driver of the ute was taken to Orange Hospital in a serious but stable condition, suffering leg injuries, while his passenger – a two-year-old boy – was not injured.

Crash investigation unit officers commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Officers attended a home in Millthorpe and arrested the now 29-year-old woman about 11.45am on Thursday.

She was taken to Bathurst police station and charged with three offences, including dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and causing bodily harm by misconduct of motor vehicle.

She was granted conditional bail to appear at Bathurst Local Court on July 31.
