Two men have been charged with a string of common assault and robbery offences after they allegedly assaulted a 12-year-old girl and a woman in the Central West.
Emergency services were called to Wingewarra St, Dubbo, following reports a woman had been assaulted and robbed about 6pm on Wednesday.
Orana Mid-Western Police District officers attended and were told a woman had been assaulted by a man who demanded her car keys before driving off in her car.
Paramedics treated the 67-year-old woman at the scene with a broken hip and head injuries, before she was taken to Dubbo Base Hospital in a stable condition, where she remains.
A NSW Police statement revealed officers received reports that a man had assaulted a 12-year-old girl on Macquarie St, Dubbo, about 5pm the same day.
Police were patrolling Milson St, Warren, when they attempted to stop the stolen car around 8pm.
“When the driver allegedly failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated. It was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns,” police said in a statement.
Police located the car in the rear yard of Dubbo St, Warren, and established a crime scene an hour later.
A 27-year-old man was arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station where he was charged with a string of offences.
He was charged with common assault, aggravated robbery and inflict actual bodily harm causing grievous bodily harm, take and drive a vehicle without consent, not stopping during a police pursuit and driving while disqualified.
A 24-year-old man was also arrested at the home for unrelated outstanding arrest warrants for assault, property, traffic and domestic violence.
Both men have been refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court on Thursday.
