Shoppers in western NSW could soon have access to a new car wash service if Dubbo Regional Council approves a proposed development application lodged by Charter Hall.
The company which owns the Dubbo Square shopping centre in the city’s CBD has lodged an application to build a $50,000 car wash in the centre’s car park.
According to a statement of environmental effects lodged with the DA, the Car Wash will include a 10-foot container which will serve as a portable office and storage building.
A detail bay, six spaces for car wash bays and a wash bay plus associated 10ft container storage building will also be features of the development.
“A metal framed canopy is proposed over the car wash bay. as well as over car spaces supporting the car wash to assist with drying and polishing,” the statement read.
“The car wash bay will be provided with a separator for oils and chemicals before discharging waste water into the sewage system.
“A total of 10 on-site carparking spaces will be used as part of the car wash business.”
Three of the existing car park spaces will be turned into spots for storage, cleaning, detailing and polishing.
Another three will be used for wash bays, two will be used for vacuuming, one for the office and one for the storage and facility room
“Ample on-site carparking opportunities exist within the car park servicing the shopping centre,” the statement lodged with the DA said.
The Car Wash will be open seven days a week and staffed by two or three people at any one time.
If approved it will be the second Car Wash to be constructed this year in Dubbo after the DubVegas car wash opened earlier in 2021.
Charter Hall did not respond to a request for comment.
