A non-for-profit organisation providing at-home and health care services could see a new home on Dubbo’s main drag by the end of the year.

Marathon Heath’s $1.5 million vision has been lodged under Dubbo Regional Council to replace the former National Australia Bank site on Macquarie St, Dubbo.

The application is requesting a change of use from a business premises to a health services facility, internal fit out of the building, creation of storage areas, meeting rooms and staff facilities and the establishment of consultation room and clinical spaces.

The planner for the project said the proposed development would function as a hub and administrative base for Marathon Health’s team with a significant portion of their operations occurring off-site.

“The development is expected to generate a positive social impact with a not-for-profit health and wellbeing organisation expanding their operations,” the planner said.

“The development would provide additional local employment and services during construction and ongoing operation.

“The development is not considered likely to give rise to any negative social impacts.”

The organisation aims to help every Australian thrive, supporting them with many types of health issues, including mental health and wellbeing, Aboriginal health and allied health.

According to the architectural drawings of the facility, non-profit mental health organisation Headspace will also be operating in the building.

“The surrounding area is characterised by a mix of different development types, including commercial premises, banks, business premises and retail shops,” the planner said.

“The Dubbo central business district or commercial centre, has experienced a significant transition and revamp of key structures with many developments, either approved or proposed, being undertaken.”

A Marathon Health spokesman said the proposal was still in the “early” stages and could not confirm if the organisation was relocating from their Talbragar St office or if the facility would be an addition to their already existing facility.

The proposed facility is on exhibition until March 19.
