Labor MP reveals how government made early learning ‘more affordable’

A multimillion-dollar childcare centre which is planned to operate seven days a week and facilitate 132 children in the state’s west has been revealed.

Maas Group Properties’ $3.1 million vision on Spitfire Dr, Dubbo, has been lodged before Dubbo Regional Council and is on exhibition until December 16.

The vacant site is proposed to have seven learning rooms, with indoor and outdoor play areas, and is expected to be open from 6am to 7pm on weekdays and 8am to 3pm on weekends.

The facility is proposed to staff 22 employees.

A planner for the project said that there is a “need” for an additional childcare facility in the area as it is a vital service for the local community.

“The facility has been designed to provide a high level of amenity for children, staff, and neighbours and to provide a quality product to address the local market demand for conveniently located childcare facilities,” the planner stated.

“The design produces efficient indoor and outdoor learning spaces with access to sunlight, ventilation, and a comfortable and diverse learning space.

“The layout creates an efficient and safe environment for staff to confidently work and the design has been carefully located on the site to ensure minimal impact on neighbouring properties.”

The planner argued the development would also strengthen the “viability of existing centres through increased economic activity and employment”.

The single-storey childcare facility will also obtain 37 carparking spaces, including accessible parking, surveillance, landscaping and private fencing.
