An existing house in the state’s central west could soon be transformed into a medical centre if plans are given the go-ahead by a local council.
Dubbo Regional Council has received plans for a $217,000 transformation of a residential home into a medical centre, featuring five medical rooms, a kitchen, a foyer and bathroom facilities.
The development application includes a demolition of an existing carport structure, alterations to the house and the construction of a single-story building.
The proposed medical centre will be located on Blaxland St, approximately 1km from Dubbo Base Hospital and 2km from the Myall St shopping strip.
A planner for the project stated the initial use of the rooms would be used for a chiropractic clinic but could facilitate up to five health care professionals at a time.
“The proposed medical centre building has been designed using a mixture of different building materials consistent with the surrounding streetscape,” the planner said.
“Privacy measures will be implemented between the existing dwelling house and the new clinic using fencing, internal window furnishings and landscaping.”
The operative hours will be from 8.30am to 6.30pm from Monday to Friday and 8.30am to 12.30pm on Saturdays.
“The proposed development will provide health services to the region resulting in a positive social outcome to those using the service,” the planner said.
