A man has been arrested in a regional hospital while receiving treatment following an alleged break-in and motor vehicle theft.
Orana Mid-Western Police District officers received a report of a break-in at a home on Jandra Rd, Dubbo, between 4pm on March 12 and 1.30pm on March 14.
Police were told cash, collectors’ coins, a backpack, a mobile phone and a Mitsubishi Triton were allegedly stolen.
Following inquiries, police attended Dubbo Base Hospital on Monday and arrested a 20-year-old man who was receiving treatment for burns to his arm and neck.
During a search of the man, police located and seized cannabis, and a bag of cash believed to be from the break-in.
The man was later taken to Dubbo Police Station and charged with drive a stolen vehicle, possess ammunition without holding a permit, goods in custody suspected of being stolen and a breach of bail.
The man was refused bail and appeared at Dubbo Local Court on Tuesday, where he was formally refused bail to reappear at the same court on March 25.
The Triton was located burnt on the bank of Macquarie River, on Whylandra St, Dubbo, on Tuesday.
