Dubbo: Macquarie Street plans for 59 residential lots on exhibition

$4.5 million plans for 59 residential lots to increase housing across Dubbo have been revealed. See the proposed site of the lots.

Plans to increase and create more diverse housing opportunities across Dubbo have been revealed.

Maas Group Developments is proposing a $4.5m plans featuring 59 residential lots and one residue lot on Macquarie St and Old Dubbo Rd.

The proposed residential lots are expected to vary in size ranging from 600.3 sqm to 1144 sqm providing “diverse housing opportunities for the area”.

Plans include the construction of a new “internal” road ranging between 16 to 18 metres in width to facilitate road pavements and footpaths providing greater access to the lots.

“The development also proposes to upgrade the existing unsealed shoulder along the Macquarie Street frontage to include a parking lane, kerb and gutter and verge with concrete footpath,” the developer said.

According to the developer, the proposed site is “inconsistent” with the current “rural landscape character” and will resemble a “developing character”.

An Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Impact Assessment Report has been undertaken which identified six Aboriginal sites.

The developer will be required to create further assessments and consultation regarding the impact on those sites.

“The proposal will generate positive social, environmental and economic benefits,” the developer said.

“The development will provide additional residential lots to cater for future housing.

“The proposal represents rational, orderly, economic and sustainable use of the land and should therefore be supported.”

The proposed development is on exhibition until March 22.
