A 14-year-old boy, who was already on bail, has been granted conditional bail after being charged with stealing and driving offences in the state’s central west.
The boy was arrested under Operation Regional Mongoose; a high-visibility police operation to tackle serious property-related crime committed predominantly by young offenders.
Police were patrolling in Dubbo, when they saw two teenagers riding a motorbike on a footpath without helmets around 7.45pm on Wednesday.
The motorbike was spotted by police several times riding throughout Dubbo.
A short time later, police attended a home in Dubbo and arrested a 14-year-old boy in a shed, where they also located the motorbike.
The motorbike was allegedly stolen from a business on Dept Rd, Dubbo, earlier this month.
The teen was taken to Dubbo Police Station where he was charged with being carried in a stolen vehicle, driving recklessly and driving while unlicensed.
He was also charged for not wearing a helmet, using an unregistered vehicle on the road and breach of bail.
The boy was refused bail and appeared at a children’s court on Thursday, where he was given conditional bail to appear at the same court on July 8.
