The old Anytime Fitness site at Dubbo’s Delroy Park Shopping Centre will soon be turned into a slick new 24/7 Stepz Fitness gym.
Dubbo will be the booming fitness chain’s 14th site in Australia, and the first in western NSW, when it opens in March.
Franchise owner Sam Waller said the gym will offer functional group training and aim to employ five local staff, including a manager and personal trainers.
“I see Dubbo as having great potential, having visited a couple of times myself,” he said.
“It’s a huge growth area, especially with COVID and people realising they don’t need to be in the city.
“With the developments in that west Delroy Park area I think it’s our perfect demographic, there’s a lot of young families, mother’s, guys that are wanting a quick workout before work and seniors as well.”
The most recent Stepz Fitness franchise to open in regional NSW was in Lismore and Mr Waller said exercise enthusiasts had already shown an interest in joining the new Dubbo gym.
“Already on Facebook we’ve had a lot of support for the location that we chose.
“It’ll have everything you want in a space, tv’s, Netflix on the treadmills and stuff.
“We’ve got cardio based, high intensity workouts, we’ve got strength training but we also have yoga and pilates.”
Mr Waller said the first Stepz Fitness opened in Queensland in 2009 and the business has prioritised chosen to focus on expanding into regional areas where there is growing demand for gym options.
“We’re just getting everything in place now, the build will start very shortly, it’ll only take about four weeks.
“The equipment will be in late Feb. The model that we have now is in huge demand and working really well.
“I’m really excited to work with, and meet all the Dubbo community, and I can’t wait to get started.”
