A plan to see the construction of eight units in the state’s central west has been revealed.
Mass Group Properties has submitted a $1.7 million development application to Dubbo Regional Council for a nine-lot subdivision and the construction of eight dwellings in Dubbo.
The eight unit-style dwellings, designed by ELK Architects, would feature a mix of two and three-bedroom housing with an established internal road network, visitor parking spaces and communal grass and landscaping areas.
The planner said the proposal was dedicated to contributing to the regional objectives of providing a mixture of housing that meets the population’s changing needs and reflects the unique local character.
“The proposed eight dwellings are designed as smaller housing units in a higher density setting which would provide alternative housing choices while assisting in mitigating high housing prices,” the planner said.
“The proposed development predominantly provides for two-bedroom homes that would meet the needs of smaller families, which reflect the changing family structure within the region.”
The proposed site is located in Cove Circuit, Southlakes, approximately 5.5km south east of Dubbo’s CBD.
The proposed lot is part of a staged proposal with future residential developments which may be undertaken as separate application for each phase of development.
Before the units are constructed, an internal road system and service infrastructure needs to be developed.
“Target tenants include increasing proportions of single and double families as well as the aged population seeking downsizing in regional city areas,” the planner said.
“The proposal also contributes to mitigating high housing sale and rental cost for residents in Dubbo by providing more affordable products.”
