A Central West bowling club could soon be given the green light to undertake major renovations.

Club Dubbo has lodged $1.3 million plans before Dubbo Regional Council to refurbish parts of the club featuring a wraparound enclosed terrace.

The proposed development on 82 Whylandra St, Dubbo, would replace the existing glass wall with a double-glazed glass wall along the northern and western facade, the former office and shop with a new office, construct a wraparound enclosed terrace with a roof and incorporate new landscaping features.

The proposed development would also upgrade the existing stairs to the bowling green with a new set connecting the bowling greens to the proposed terrace.

The planner said the proposal would add “additional public benefits for the community”, as an under-cover space would be provided for bowlers and visitors associated with Club Dubbo.

“The upgrading of the glass wall along the western facade from a single to a double-glazed glass helps to reduce any potential noise which may be generated by the club currently,” the planner said.

“Further, the outdoor terrace is fully enclosed, limiting excessive noise generated late at night for surrounding residents.

“An acoustic impact assessment has been prepared to support this application and concludes that the proposed outdoor.”

The operative hours will not change with the proposed development.

The planner said the proposal would provide an undercover seating area for patrons of Club Dubbo without negatively impacting the amenity of surrounding residents.

The development is considered suitable and will be on public exhibition until July 14.
