Three teenagers have faced court charged with aggravated robbery in Dubbo in the early hours of Monday morning.

About 1.20am on Monday, two 14-year-olds and one 15-year-old – one armed with a knife – forced entry into a home on Sturt Circuit, demanding keys to a car parked outside the residence.

The 65-year-old occupant of the home was allegedly punched in the head multiple times before he fell to the ground and handed over his keys to the group of boys.

The youths attempted to drive the car before being disturbed by a neighbour - they fled on foot with cash, two mobile phones and personal documentation.

Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police attended and launched an investigation into the incident.

The two 14-year-old boys were located hiding in a yard, before they were arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station.

About 7am, police attended a home in Dubbo and arrested the third member of the group.

One 14-year-old boy was charged with aggravated break and enter and committing serious bodily harm, wearing a disguise with an intention to commit an indictable offence and stealing a motor vehicle.

The other two boys were charged with aggravated break and enter, committing a serious indictable offence and stealing a motor vehicle.

The two 14-year-old were refused bail to appear at a children’s court.

The 15-year-old was also refused bail to appear at the same court, where he was formerly refused bail to appear on September 11.

NARROMINE

A man has been charged after a single-vehicle crash in the state’s west.

Emergency services were called to Burroway Rd, Narromine, about 8.50pm on Saturday, after a utility hit a fence.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated an 18-year-old woman suffering multiple injuries at the scene before taking her to Dubbo Base Hospital in a critical condition.

The 19-year-old male driver was also treated by NSW paramedics before being taken to the same hospital for mandatory testing and treatment for minor injuries.

The driver was later arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving and driving while disqualified.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court on October 9.

DUBBO

Roadwork will close sections of the Newell Hwy between Bligh and Darling St from June 15 to August 19, with traffic affected in both directions from 7pm to 6.30am. The Transport Management Centre said “contraflow traffic conditions will be in place”.

“Traffic controllers will be on site to direct motorists,” Transport said. “Motorists are advised to allow approximately five minutes of additional travel time.”

PARKES

A man has been charged following an investigation into an alleged aggravated robbery last month.

About 5pm on July 17, a 40-year-old man armed with a knife attended a home on Moulden St, Parkes, where he allegedly threatened a 35-year-old occupant.

Police will allege in court he assaulted the man before making further demands to drive to an ATM and withdraw cash.

Upon arrival at the ATM, the 35-year-old man ran from the location and contacted the police.

The other man fled the location in the utility vehicle - the car was found on the riverbank in Narromine the following day and was seized for forensic examination.

Following inquiries, officers arrested the man at a hospital on Myall St in Dubbo before taking him to Dubbo Police Station.

He was charged with aggravated robbery and depriving a person of liberty.

He was refused bail on Saturday, where he was formally bail refused to reappear at Parkes Local Court on September 21.

WAMBANGALANG

Benolong bridge at Wambangalang will see a 15 tonne gross load limit until further notice, according tot he Transport Management Centre. Vehicles over 15 tonnes will be detoured via Nubingerie Rd, Eulandool Rd and Obley Rd.

“This area will also be affected by future roadworks due to construction of replacement bridge in coming months,” the office said.
