Narromine: A man has fled the scene after dumping a stolen vehicle in the Macquarie River post an assault in Parkes

A man is on the run – dumping a stolen ute in the Macquarie River – after allegedly threatening and assaulting another man at knifepoint before stealing his vehicle. See the latest here.

An alleged robber is on the run after threatening another man at knifepoint in a Parkes home, before dumping a stolen ute in the Macquarie River at Narromine.

The vehicle was located by a resident on Tuesday morning in the Macquarie River near Timbrebongie Reserve, about 7.15am on Tuesday.

Police revealed about 5pm on Monday, a man armed with a knife attended a home on Moulden St, Parkes, making threats and demanding cash from the occupant.

The man assaulted the 35-year-old occupant before he demanded to drive his vehicle to an ATM and withdraw cash.

A police statement said upon arrival at the ATM, the 35-year-old man ran from the location and contacted the police, while the man driving the vehicle fled the location in the utility.

The vehicle has been seized for forensic investigation.

Investigations are continuing.
