An estimated $1.9 million expansion of the Cattleman’s Country Motor Inn has been approved by Dubbo Regional Council.
Constructions of a new two-storey brick building, which will contain 15 motel units is expected to soon get underway.
The units will be located next to the motel, on an empty block at 19-21 Beni Street in West Dubbo.
Precision Wheel Alignments and a paint supply business previously sat on the block.
According to a statement of environmental effects prepared by Patricia Ball, a town planner at consulting firm Barnson, a pedestrian crossing will connect the new units with the existing motel facilities and main office.
“The proposed building will be constructed to compliment and assimilate with the existing buildings that make up the Cattleman’s Country Motor Inn and sit nicely within the combined boundaries … no adjacent properties are likely to be affected by overshadowing,” Ms Ball said.
“The proposed development shall secure steady employment opportunities and make a positive economic contribution to the locality.”
Four of the units will including balconies which will face Beni Street and one unit on the ground floor will be fully accessible.
Cattleman’s Country Motor Inn did not respond to requests to comment on the development.
