Bunglegumbie Rd, Dubbo: Developer given green light to turn old vineyard into 105 house lots

A developer has been given the green light to subdivide an old vineyard in the state’s west into housing lots.
Developer Maas Group Developments Pty Ltd lodged a development application to the Dubbo Regional Council and has received approval to build 105 residential lots along Bunglegumbie Rd.
A planning report outlines the plan to demolish existing three sheds and abandoned structures to make way for the lots.
The land used to be part of the Bunglegumbie run and was among the district’s first vineyards in the 1860s, which later turned into one of the best in Australia.
Along with setting up the residential lots, the proposal outlines constructing new internal roads, drainage, footpaths and street trees to be planted in order to “enhance the scenic landscape and provide shade and amenity”.
There will also be connections to the existing Bunglegumbie Rd, and the location is close to the western railway line.
The approved development application states it will help to “facilitate the provision of suitable residential allotments that can assist in the supply of affordable, well designed housing in places that the community want to live”.
“The proposal will assist in the delivery of housing to meet the need for 21,664 new homes in the region by 2041 and the development is consistent with the relevant regional strategic plan,” it states.
“(It will have a) positive social and economic impacts for the locality of Dubbo through the provision of additional housing and allotment choice to meet the demands of the growing community.
“The proposal will generate positive social, environmental and economic benefits (and) will also provide employment increases during and after construction and updates to infrastructure for the community.”
