Jessikka Elemes, 32, pleads not guilty to charges she tried to smuggle meth and bupe into Wellington jail

A woman has pleaded not guilty to drug supply and possession charges after she was allegedly found trying to smuggle meth and opiate painkillers into a country prison.

A woman has pleaded not guilty to drug supply and possession charges after she was allegedly found trying to smuggle methamphetamine and opiate painkillers into a country jail.

Jessikka Elemes, 32, failed in her attempt to be released on bail while facing Dubbo Local Court on Monday on six charges.

Police allege they were called to Wellington jail on Sunday morning after receiving reports a woman was attempting to bring drugs into the facility.

“Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District were told a 32-year-old woman allegedly attempted to bring in methylamphetamine and buprenorphine strips on her way into visit a person when a drug detection dog gave a positive indication,” police said in a statement.

Elemes was taken to Wellington police station where she was charged with two counts each of possessing a prohibited drug, supplying a prohibited drug, and bringing a prohibited drug/plant into place of detention.

Elemes faced Dubbo Local Court on Monday where she entered not guilty pleas to all six charges.

She made a release application before magistrate Brett Shields but was refused bail and remanded in custody to appear in Wellington Local Court on June 17.
